HILLARY CLINTON HAS HER OWN CELEBRITY MOMENT AFTER DEBATE

Just as one reality television star upended the first debate of the Republican presidential race in Cleveland, another posed for a selfie with Hillary Rodham Clinton in Los Angeles.

The shot of Mrs. Clinton with Kim Kardashian (complete with a bonusKanye West photo bomb) appeared on Twitter just after the Fox News debate came to a close and spread on social media like a Donald Trump zinger.

Aides to Mrs. Clinton said the photo, taken at a fund-raiser held at the Brentwood home of Justin Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun, and his wife, Yael Cohen Braun, and posted on Twitter by Ms. Kardashian, was not planned.

But the timing hardly seemed accidental.

As the Republicans bickered onstage Thursday night and accused Mrs. Clinton of being a scandal-ridden relic of old Democratic ideas, Mrs. Clinton, three time zones away, casually sought to solidify her pop culture status and increase her youth appeal by posing with two of the most popular celebrities on the planet.

Critics dismissed the Kim and Kanye selfie as gauche, but inside Mrs. Clinton’s campaign headquarters in Brooklyn, the social-media moment only added to the impression that their candidate, despite not being on the stage, had won the night.
